“I came into recovery homeless, on the run from the law, cases pending, no $ for smokes, no ID, paranoid and still pop-lockin’ off dope!
With the desperation of a dying man, I decided (took action) to do everything that recovered people instructed…
My life began to change. I resolved most legal issues, made a few bucks, am now a father and a husband & finally free to achieve my life’s ambitions. I found a purpose and am dedicated to helping others find the same success and happiness.”

“I spent many years lost and confused as to why my life had become so difficult. In and out of hospitals, even with a loving and supportive family, I still felt alone and miserable.
It wasn’t until I met someone with a similar story to mine who identified with me and shared her story of experience, strength, and hope that I realized that recovery was possible for me.
I am now living a life that I do not need or want to escape from. I have a sense of purpose, of belonging, and, for the first time in forever, I am excited for the future.”

“For a long time, I was lost. Through the assistance and fellowship at the 24 Hour Club, I worked the 12 steps and found purpose. Today, I do meaningful and rewarding work at a detox.”

“I came into recovery desparate for change- sad, alone, and facing multiple felonies. By working the steps, finding my tribe, and learning to live by the principles of this program, my life has been transformed. Today, I get to contribute to society instead of just taking from it.
Bag of hope is unlike any other group I have ever experienced. The energy, inclusion, and fellowship create a space where everyone- especially the newcomer- are truly welcomed, supported, and reminded that no matter where you came from, you belong.”

“I was brought to Texas by U.S. Marshals in cuffs. I got caught selling 4K grams of meth. I was full of pain and anger. I was tired of hurting myself and others.
With the grace of my higher power, I have been given another chance. I am working the steps and completely dedicated to the new life I have now. It’s not for the weak.”

“My journey in recovery started at the 24 Hour Club. After 30 years of getting high I had to make a choice and knew I needed help. I found a new way of living life and a fellowship of friends that I could never have imagined.”

“I came into Bag of Hope totally defeated, not understanding how my life had gone the way it had gone. I spent years hitting “rock bottom” only to find I could actually go lower. I am so glad I finally said enough is enough and walked through those doors. Bag of Hope has taught me the importance of community and service but more importantly, it has shown me that I am not alone and that there is a way through.”

“Before I knew anything about recovery, my life revolved around drugs, crime, and jail for the last ten years.
When I attended my first meeting last October, I knew I wanted what the others had. They were sober and also happy- two things I didn’t think went together. Today, I’m happy, sober, and feel like I have a purpose in my life!”

“10 years ago, I was in a motorcycle accident which took a part of my leg. The pain and agony brought on heavy using to cope with feelings. I struggled for 10 years. After the lowest of lows & losing everything, I knew it was time for a change.
I prayed to a God I wasn’t even sure wanted me anymore & was blessed with finding C.A. through the 2-4. Now I'm working the steps with people I can ACTUALLY relate to. Seeing people like me succeed has given me hope. Today I have a desire to be alive and a desire to be a part of something greater than me. I’m grateful & looking forward to life.”
If you think no one can relate to your story, come check us out, we'll fix that REAL quick!”

“My life once felt like an empty black hole. I was lost, alone, and disconnected from everything good. Managing my life became impossible, and I no longer felt capable of being a good mother, daughter, friend, or even a person I was meant to be.
When help was offered, I embraced the opportunity to change my path. Today, I am part of a community that loves me unconditionally- one that shows up for me and welcomes me with open arms, walks beside me with compassion and grace.
For the first time, I can truly say that I love myself and my life. I now have a sense of purpose and belonging. I give back what was so graciously given to me. I am truly blessed- and by the grace of God, I am finally me.”
